About SeeMe LG


It is widely understood that NSW Council’s, in particular, regional and remote Councils are finding it increasingly difficult to attract and retain experienced specialist staff such as Town Planners, Building Surveyors, Environmental Health Officers, Engineers and the like. The cost of recruitment and retention of such staff is ever increasing, with hourly rates on the rise and additional benefits needing to be offered to attract and retain the right person.


SeeMe LG is a relatively new, NSW regionally-based contracting service that aims to fill a gap in the current market by providing employment solutions for specialist staff at economical rates, equivalent to the cost of normal full-time in-house employees.

It is widely recognised that there already exist other short-term labour-hire services but the cost of such employment contracts is often much too high (up to and exceeding $150p/h + expenses) to be a sustainable long-term staffing solution.


The service provided by SeeMe LG is different from these conventional contract labour-hire companies. SeeMe LG aims to connect a Council with an experienced specialist staff member that can integrate into the full-time staff environment and consistently apply their knowledge and experience to the job over a long-term period of months and years, as a real economical alternative to Council’s own in-house staff.


One of the greatest advantages SeeMe LG can offer our Councils, over their own in-house recruitment of staff is that contract hire is a completely user pay system. The client only pays for the hours the contractor is actually working for them compared to in-house employees, who get paid over an entire 52-week year, regardless if they are on leave, it’s a public holiday or they are taking a rostered day off. 


In addition to this the Contractor is solely responsible for their own employee on costs such as uniforms, PPE, training, workers comp, superannuation and leave entitlements. 


The employment options offered by SeeMe LG allows a Council to easily obtain specialist staff on part-time, as needs basis if the Council doesn’t have the workload or financial resources to cover this position full-time. However, unlike some short-term consultants, SeeMe LG staff become integrated into the normal council environment, getting to know other staff and the local community on a personal level. This allows our staff to act in the best interest of the Council and the community it represents, just like any other full-time member of staff.
